NAVIGATING the WATERWAYS ~ BOATING 101 🚤

This weekend’s RED, WHITE and BLUE airshow over Pensacola Beach will fill every local waterway with boats. Boater’s beware, a number of boats will be captained by inexperienced navigators. Keep your eyes on the water and be prepared. Boat watching, observing others navigate the complexities of water travel, can be engaging entertainment but may also includes an element of fear.

Studies show that operator inexperience is a primary factor to the number of boating accidents. Inexperienced operators misjudge distances, fail to react quickly enough, and/or make sudden, unpredictable moves. Data shows that 75% of deaths occurred on boats where the operator had received no boating safety instruction.

NOW YOU KNOW ✅: A new Florida boating safety requirements for 2025, includes the need for a Boating Safety Education Identification Card for those born on or after January 1, 1988.  A boating safety course can significantly reduce risk, teach critical skills, and advise on handling of emergency situations.
