RED, WHITE ‘n BLUE celebration’s are happenin’ all week! They say the safest way to enjoy 4th of July fireworks is to watch a public firework display. Check out @Discover.pcola for a list of local firework displays.

JULY 4th also coincides with a rubber ducky race. 🐥 Great Milltown Duck Race, a popular event in nearby Milton, is a fundraiser for the Blackwater Pyrates. Adopt a duck and get ‘em swimming for the🏆!

NOW YOU KNOW ✅: Backyard Firework laws vary significantly by state and even by local municipality.

  • City of Pensacola Limits: The City of Pensacola has a separate ordinance that makes it unlawful to discharge fireworks within city limits, even on designated holidays.

  • Noise Ordinance: Escambia County has a noise ordinance that is in effect even on designated holidays.

  • Penalties: Violating the county fireworks ordinance can result in civil citations.

  • Burn Ban: If a burn ban is in effect in Escambia County, private fireworks are prohibited.

WHAT: A Duck Race in Milton, FL. The GREAT MILLTOWN DUCK RACE is held on the 4th of July @ approximately 5:00pm

HOW: 4,5 or even as many as 6000 Ducks are loaded into a front-end loader and dumped in the river off the HWY 90 bridge. The river current helps them find their way into the racetrack, a “V” shape (ropes strung with noodles) and feeds them down river to a chute.

SERVING: The race is a fundraiser for the Blackwater Pyrates community service organization for the Bagdad/Milton area and the Blackwater River and basins.

The race starts at the Hwy. 90 Bridge in downtown Milton on the beautiful Blackwater River and can be viewed in its entirety from the shore and boardwalk.
