 PASSPORT FAIR 🛂

This might be a bit of a stretch, from P’COLA to GULF SHORES, but we thought you all might like to know about an opportunity to get your PASSPORT application filed at a one day PASSPORT FAIR. On Saturday, March 15th from 9-1pm at the Gulf Shores Post Office at 2149 W First St. To make an appointment or for specific information, call 251-968-2231. You might also go to usps.com/passport to download an application. Be sure to check the “what to bring with you list” so you arrive prepared. Safe Travels!

MARDI GRAS BEADS PLEASE! 📿

MARDI GRAS BEADS, sparkly, colorful treasures that float through the air like confetti, flung from floats, tossed by revelers. It’s like a giant, chaotic game of catch with shiny, lightweight beads and after all is done, those colorful strands may haunt your kitchen drawer for years to come. You might only catch one necklace in a sea of flying beads, but that single one strand feels like you’ve won the lottery.

Unfortunately, most of the uncollected beads will be kicked around like they’re cursed, tossed into the gutters, or tangled up in trees. They get swept up by street cleaners, dumped into trash cans, and, let’s be honest, probably make their way to the landfill where they’ll live out their final days in the great "Recycle Bin of Nevermore."

Let’s talk numbers: Spectator turnout at the Pensacola Mari Gras Parade is estimated to have exceeded 100,000 attendees. It's reasonable to infer the 2025 paraders saw millions of beads, collectively.

NOW YOU KNOW ✅: The tradition of bead-throwing is so ingrained in Pensacola's Mardi Gras that volunteers organize annual clean-up events to retrieve beads from trees in downtown areas and The ARC GATEWAY of P’COLA is accepting Mardi Gras Bead Donations!
