NATIONAL TEACH YOUR KIDS TO SAVE 💰 DAY - TODAY!

Starting today! Plan a few minutes each week teaching the skills saving money with your kids. Save for a purchase, save for a vacation, save for a rainy day. Learning skills to save money at an early age develops into successful adults saving💰for times in life when we have financial needs and emergencies.

Start with Basics:

• Needs vs. Wants: Explain that difference between NEED and WANT.

• Discuss Savings Goals: Identify something they may want to buy, calculate how much they need to save, and how long it will take. 

• Use Visual Aids: A piggy bank or a large jar can be used to watch the savings process grow as money is added over time.. 

Make it Practical:

• Allowances: Use allowances to teach the concept of earning money and identify exactly how much to spend and save. 

• Incentivize Saving: Offer rewards for reaching savings goals - match their goal!

• Real-Life Experiences: Take them shopping to teach the concept of comparing prices and making budget-friendly choices. 

• Open a Savings Account: Reviewing monthly bank statements will help them understand how money grows over time. 

Lead by Example:

• Demonstrate Good Habits: Model responsible spending and saving behaviors. Have your own savings jar and goal beside their jars.

• Talk About Money: Discuss your savings goals and how you manage your finances. 

• Be Patient and Encourage: It’s all about choices…Allow them to make mistakes and learn from them.

SAVE THE DATE 📆: 17 May

2025 Gumbo Ya Ya at Seville Quarter takes place May 17th from 4-6pm. Amateur and professional teams will compete for bragging rights for the best Gumbo in P’Cola! Three person teams will make gumbo from scratch. Judges have the challenging job of deciding who wins each category based upon smell, color, taste and consistency. Trophies are awarded to the top three winners!

What to expect: the chance to visit chefs tables and sample dozens of delicious recipes for GUMBO!

The annual Burger Battle of the Bay is in May! The Best Burgers Fundraiser that benefits Take Stock in Children of Florida and Pensacola Suburban West Rotary Club Foundation, Inc, both 501(c)(3) corporations.

Burger battle by the Bay is an annual burger competition and fundraiser held in Pensacola. It features a variety if burger creations by both professional and amateur cooks, with the public able to sample the burgers and vote for their favorite.
