Good morning, Pensacola

Pensacola waters are a "Dolphin hot spot," for aquatic entertainment. You'll likely encounter bottlenose dolphins (the most common type) frolicking in the Gulf, maybe even getting a sneak peek at their "underwater ballet" as they hunt for fish or play with boat wakes. Don't be surprised if they try to charm you with a wave, a flip, or even a playful "hello" as they pass by.  Bounce Beach is soon to open in P’Cola!? And, Where to set sail in Pensacola...

NATIONAL DOLPHIN 🐬 DAY: 4/14/25

Given that today is National Dolphin Day 🐬 and our Pensacola waters are home to native Dolphin, we’d like to suggest a few local ideas on where and how to see these playful neighbors.

🐬 Dolphin Sighting

Look for Dolphin in the waters of the Pensacola Pass, along the Gulf Islands National Seashore, and in the Pensacola Bay. Yes!, you can even spot Dolphin from the beach, particularly along the tip of Santa Rosa Island near Pensacola Pass.

🐬 Tips for Dolphin Watching:

  • Best time of day: Dolphins are active in the early morning and late afternoon.

  • Seasons: Dolphin sightings are generally greater during the warmer months (spring and summer).

KNOW YOU KNOW : It's advised to observe dolphins from a safe distance and avoid any interactions like touching or feeding them. Dolphins are wild animals, and interacting with them can be dangerous for both humans and dolphins. It's also illegal to feed or harass wild dolphins under the Marine Mammal Protection Act
